If you’re like most people, you will most likely experience allergies every now and then. For some, allergies are temporary irritations, whereas others seem to suffer constantly. You can get help for your allergies! You can relieve your symtoms and feel normal again.
People are more prone to allergies at certain times of their lives than at others. For example, food allergies are more common in infants as they are exposed to different things for the first time. As your children grow they can be exposed to a lot of different protein allergies and become allergic to pollen. After years of encountering no reactions to pollen or other allergens, your child may suddenly display allergy symptoms at some point. Do not immediately eliminate the possibility that he or she is truly allergic.
If you suffer with allergies and thinking about getting a pet, choose one that has short fur. All warm-blooded animals have the potential for causing allergy problems. Those with long hair or copious feathers are the worst! In order to ameliorate the effects of animals, never sleep in the same bed with your pets.
Make sure your bathroom has a lot of ventilation to prevent mildew and mold. Mold and mildew thrive in damp environments. Keep wet washcloths and towels on the towel rack, and turn the fan on when finished showering. If you do not have a fan, crack a window to allow fresh air to circulate.
A plethora of allergy and antihistamine products are available over the counter, yet not all find relief from them. Your allergist may be able to provide samples of prescription medications. If you try an over-the-counter medication, buy the smallest box or bottle available. By trying out drugs in sample form, you can quickly break off from one and get on another if you need further treatment.
Consider going without carpet. Carpet is known to collect dust mites, pollen and pet dander. If your home contains carpet, think about changing them out for wood, tile or laminate flooring, if you can afford it. You’ll be amazed at the reduction of allergens in the air when you make this change. You will surely breathe easier! If this is not possible, be sure to vacuum daily.
Avoid any product that contains colorant. Even the coloring in paper towels or toilet paper is a problem for some. Try using white paper products for your house to see if this helps your allergies.
Once you have control of your allergy symptoms, you can have an enjoyable life! A runny nose, itchy eyes, and other symptoms do not need to ruin your enjoyment of your life. By taking the initiative and following some basic steps, you can remove those symtoms and get the relief you want.
